We arrived at the airport yesterday at 9:30am and finally were able to catch a flight out at 6pm. The airline attendants told us that all their flights were overbooked and it would take a miracle to get on one as a standby passenger.... especially our standby status as we are basically the lowest of the low (David said we are the amoeba)!
Well, PRAISE GOD.... one of the flights we were hoping to get on was delayed and because of that some people chose not to take it. (I will never again complain about being on a delayed flight because one never knows what God is working on another's behalf!!!)
However, because we only landed in Atlanta around 9:30pm we were too late to catch the first flight out to Manchester as they only have one flight to Manchester per day and it is at 7:30pm. So we are hanging out in the hotel until 12noon when we will head over to the airport to hang out there until flight time in hopes that we will be able to get on it. (Praise God again... we slept in a bed and NOT on the airport floor).
When we went to pick up our luggage we were told that 2 of our 3 bags were somewhere in the airport, but no one seemed to know where. The other 1 of our 3 was still in OKC. One might think that this was a problem, but we were actually feeling really blessed by this because it meant that we did not have to cart 3 large bags all over Atlanta. Delta also told us that because it was their mistake they will probably be able to reroute them to Newcastle. We are very excited about this..... we are landing in Manchester and then taking the train to Newcastle where we will meet our peeps to eat before heading to Dave's Dad's place. So if we do not have to lug our baggage all over everywhere then we will be all the more pleased!!!! Isn't God lovely???... He really does think of everything!!
We are soooo pleased that we did not have to sleep at the airport, but as you can see, hanging out in a hotel is not all it's cracked up to be. Let us all pray that we can get on tonight's flight so we do not have to spend another night in the hotel and start all over with the waiting process.
*while at the OKC airport we were entertained by a 5 yr girl named Alysia. We ended up on the same flight where she kept coming to visit Joshua and Daniel. Then once we arrived in Atlanta she kept popping up everywhere we were... very cute and funny!
*some of our fellow amoeba on their way to Zurich left on a flight before ours from okc. We ran into them this morning at our hotel while having breakfast. I trust that we will see them again once we get to the airport. They seem a lovely couple.... maybe we will have a chance to find out more about them this afternoon.
Until next time (hopefully from Newcastle!!!),
Amy, David, and the little two
